Two people were shot at the main post office in Iowa’s capital on Thursday, and a third was injured while attempting to flee before the gunman was taken into custody, police said.
Authorities reported that none of the injuries were believed to be life‑threatening, and the victims were treated at a nearby hospital.
The incident occurred at the main United States Postal Service facility in the city, where the shooter was apprehended shortly after the attack.
Police have not released further details about the suspect or the motive behind the shooting.
The event has prompted a review of security protocols at federal facilities across the state, officials said.
