Speaking on Channels Television's Politics Tonight, Sowore explained that his marriage would not be affected by his presidency, but he would not assume the role of First Lady.
"The Nigerian Constitution does not recognize a position called First Lady. Having a president's wife in such a position that goes against the constitution and just spending money that should be used for moving forward and building things is not something I support," Sowore said.
Sowore emphasized that women's voices would still be heard in his administration, but the office of First Lady will be abolished.
The African Action Congress (AAC) candidate further argued that Nigeria should focus on utilizing public funds for progress and development rather than maintaining a position that goes against the country's constitution.
