Former Vice‑President Atiku Abubakar has pledged to end insecurity, restore hope and reduce the cost of living if elected president in Nigeria’s 2027 general election.
The announcement came in a statement released by AllAfrica Nigeria’s Leadership section, as the country prepares for the 2027 elections. Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation, will be holding a presidential vote that could shape the country’s future security and economic policies.
Atiku, who served as vice‑president under President Olusegun Obasanjo from 1999 to 2007, said his focus would be on strengthening security forces and community policing to address the country’s persistent insecurity.
He also pledged to implement measures aimed at lowering the cost of living, including policies to reduce prices of essential goods and improve access to basic services for Nigerians.
Atiku’s campaign promises highlight a commitment to tackling the twin challenges of security and economic hardship that have weighed heavily on the Nigerian population in recent years.
