In a bid to mend internal rifts and strengthen the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections, key party figures in Oyo State convened a reconciliation meeting led by former Oyo State First Lady and Nigeria’s Ambassador to Austria, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi.
The gathering brought together the Oyo State Coordinator of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin; Senator Abdulfatai Buhari, who represents Oyo North Senatorial District; former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu; and Barrister Akeem Agbaje. The focus was on resolving disagreements, promoting inclusive leadership and rebuilding unity within the party.
Sources familiar with the discussions said participants stressed the need to set aside personal differences and competing interests for the collective good of the APC. They agreed that greater cohesion among leaders and stakeholders would strengthen the party’s structure and improve its electoral prospects in Oyo.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of sustained consultations among critical stakeholders and ensuring that different tendencies within the party are accommodated in decision‑making. A key issue raised was the translation of reconciliation rhetoric into concrete actions to rebuild trust, address grievances and encourage cooperation.
With the 2027 elections approaching, the engagement is seen as part of a renewed effort by influential party figures to harmonise interests and prevent lingering disagreements from affecting the APC’s preparations. The participants underscored the need for a collective political strategy that can carry all stakeholders along and bolster the party’s prospects across the state.
