Anambra State Police Command rescued a 10‑year‑old boy identified as Chinecherem Onuwasoanya after he went missing while playing in the community of Okpoko in Ogbaru Local Government Area, the police said in a statement released on Sunday.

The child had left his home to play and subsequently lost his way back, prompting a search that led officers to find him wandering in the area. Police officials confirmed that he was safely recovered and is now in their care.

State police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga said the rescue operation was carried out promptly after the boy was reported missing. He added that the police are now seeking the boy’s parents or legal guardians to reunite the child with his family.

Authorities have appealed to the public for any information that could help locate the boy’s relatives, urging anyone who may know his family to contact the Anambra State Police Command.

Ogbaru is one of the 21 local government areas in Anambra State, a southeastern state of Nigeria. The incident underscores the routine role of state police in responding to missing‑person cases involving children.
