The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has clarified that its newly formed committee is a Parliamentary Campaign Committee, not a rival body to the national presidential campaign.
The committee, led by former governorship candidate Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, who serves as its Director‑General, is tasked with campaigning for the party’s National Assembly and state House of Assembly candidates.
In a statement issued on Thursday, APC Director of Media and Information Kola Olabisi denied that the state had set up a parallel presidential campaign structure that would compete with the official one led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He noted that Governor Ademola Adeleke is the state coordinator for Tinubu’s campaign and that the party is ready to work with him to secure over 1.5 million votes.
“We have stated repeatedly that we are grateful to Governor Adeleke for his demonstrated resolve to lead the campaign for our presidential candidate, and that we are ready and willing as a party to work with him,” Olabisi said. “The event of last Saturday at Nelson Mandela Park in Osogbo was a testimony of our resolve to work with the governor toward the overall electoral victory of our presidential candidate.”
Olabisi warned that “agents of mischief” should desist from sowing rancour, division and disunity within the rainbow coalition, which he said is yielding bountiful results.
The party also addressed concerns raised earlier in the week about the omission of four of 35 state executive members from a social‑media list. “It is our conviction that the resentment of those members was an indication of their strong desire to be counted among the active participants on the Oyebamiji‑led parliamentary campaign council of the Osun State APC,” Olabisi added.
