In the final practice session of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing set the fastest lap, denying George Russell of Mercedes a clean sweep of the top times.
The session, held on Friday before the 1 pm qualifying session, saw Red Bull’s performance rise to a renewed challenge against the Mercedes drivers. Verstappen’s lap time was the quickest of the day, keeping Russell from topping the timesheet for the third time in a row.
With qualifying scheduled for later that afternoon, the result has put Red Bull in a stronger position ahead of the race, while Mercedes will look to regroup and improve their pace.
Both teams will now focus on fine‑tuning their cars for the remainder of the weekend, as the Azerbaijan Grand Prix continues to be a key test of speed and strategy on the Baku City Circuit.
