After a decisive victory in the United States mid‑term elections, the Democratic Party announced plans to investigate President Donald Trump’s administration now that it has taken control of both houses of Congress.
The elections, held in November, saw the Democrats win majorities in the House of Representatives and the Senate, ending a period of Republican dominance in the federal legislature.
In a statement released shortly after the results were certified, Democratic leaders said they would launch a comprehensive probe into the former president’s policies and conduct while in office.
The move follows a series of investigations that have already examined various aspects of Trump’s tenure, including his administration’s handling of public health, foreign policy and executive power.
While the specific focus of the forthcoming inquiry has not yet been detailed, the Democrats have indicated that it will be a thorough review of the former administration’s actions and decisions.
