The U.S.-China trade truce, which was set to expire in November, has been extended until January 10, U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Bessent announced on Thursday.
In a statement, Bessent said the extension reflects the need for Beijing to fulfill more deliverables in the ongoing trade negotiations.
The deal, which has been a key element of the two countries’ trade talks, will remain in place through the new deadline, giving both sides additional time to address outstanding issues.
While the extension keeps the truce active, it also signals that the U.S. is closely monitoring China’s progress on the commitments it has made.
The announcement comes amid continued discussions between Washington and Beijing over trade policy and other economic matters.
