Troops from Operation Fansan Yamma have neutralised several members of the Lakurawa terrorist group and destroyed their camps in Sokoto State, according to a recent announcement.
The military operation, described as a clearance exercise, resulted in the rout of the insurgents and the dismantling of their bases within the state.
Operation Fansan Yamma is a dedicated counter-insurgency task force established to combat banditry and terrorism in the northwest region of Nigeria, where armed groups have frequently targeted communities and security personnel.
The Lakurawa group has been active in the area, posing a significant security challenge that has prompted sustained military engagement to restore stability to the region.
