
Troops of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team, have successfully recovered a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The operation was conducted on August 7, 2026, following a report of a suspected IED planted along a road in the Jabanda area of Zurmi LGA.
According to military sources, troops of CSI Battalion VI/CT 2, Joint Task Force North-West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, deployed at Forward Operating Base Kaura Namoda, moved to Jabanda Village alongside an EOD team of the Nigeria Police Force and personnel of the 1 Brigade Quick Reaction Force.
The security team located, successfully cleared, and recovered the suspected explosive device at a point along the affected route.
Following the successful operation, the road was declared safe and reopened to motorists, restoring normal movement along the route.
