Tiriane Balbine Noah was officially elected president of the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC) on Saturday, 17 October 2026, succeeding party founder Maurice Kamto.
The MRC announced Noah’s election on the same day, confirming that she will take over the party’s top post following an internal vote among its members.
The MRC, a prominent opposition party in Cameroon, was established in 2012 by Kamto, a former presidential candidate and lawyer who has long been a vocal critic of the ruling government.
Noah’s elevation to the leadership role marks the first time a woman has headed the MRC since its inception, reflecting the party’s decision to promote new leadership ahead of future political contests.
As president, Noah is expected to steer the party’s strategy and coordinate its activities across the country, continuing the MRC’s advocacy for democratic reforms and political renewal in Cameroon.
