President Bola Tinubu reacted to a landmark decision by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) that cleared Nigeria of a legal dispute with Sunrise Power over the Mambilla hydro‑power project.
The ICC ruling, issued on Thursday, removed the single biggest legal hurdle that had stalled the project for years, according to a statement released by the government.
The Mambilla hydro‑power project is a major renewable‑energy initiative in Nigeria, intended to increase the country’s electricity generation capacity.
The arbitration centred on a disagreement between the Nigerian government and Sunrise Power, a company that had been involved in the project’s development.
With the ICC decision in hand, officials said the project can now move forward, potentially unlocking significant power output for the region.
