Segilola Resources Operating Limited (SROL), the Nigerian subsidiary of Thor Explorations Ltd, announced that its 2026 Segilola Women Initiative Programme (SWIP) and SROL Gold Scholarship Programme (SGSP) have supported 96 beneficiaries in Osun State’s Iperindo, Odo‑Ijesha and Imogbara communities, strengthening livelihoods and investing in youth development.
Under SWIP, 30 women entrepreneurs were supplied with business‑specific equipment, including freezers, sewing and stoning machines, digesters, multi‑purpose grinders, gas burners and cooler sets. The initiative aims to boost productivity, expand enterprises and create sustainable income streams.
Three former SWIP participants—one from each host community—received additional equipment as part of a continuous monitoring and business upscaling effort. In Iperindo, a domestic sewing machine was upgraded to an industrial model; in Odo‑Ijesha a pepper grinder was replaced by a flour and maize grinder; and in Imogbara weaving and button‑cover machines were added to an existing sewing business.
Since its launch in 2021, SWIP has equipped more than 200 women across SROL’s host communities. “I appreciate SROL for recognising the needs of women in our community and providing practical support. This equipment will help me serve more customers and increase my income. I hope to become an example to other women,” said returning beneficiary Adesuyi Titilope Elizabeth.
The SGSP awarded scholarships to 63 students—28 secondary and 35 tertiary—recognising outstanding academic performance and providing laptops and learning devices to support digital education.
Madhurii Sarkar‑Amoda, Community Development and Stakeholder Manager, SROL, said: “When a company creates initiatives that directly address community needs, the impact is real. At Segilola, we see our host communities as partners in progress. Women and youth are central to entrepreneurship and sustainability. These programmes provide immediate support while laying the foundation for long‑term growth and self‑reliance.”
The awards were presented on 20 August at the Iperindo Community New Town Hall. SWIP and SGSP form part of Thor Explorations’ broader commitment to creating shared, lasting value in the communities surrounding its operations, with continued investment in education, entrepreneurship and skills development aimed at sustainable development beyond the life of the mine.
