Spain’s David Matamoros, co‑producer of the internationally noted thriller “The Platform,” has joined the production team for the film adaptation of Chilean cult novel “Dog Legs” (original title “Patas de perro”). The announcement was made during the San Sebastián International Film Festival, where the deal was finalized.
Matamoros will represent Doce Entertainment, the Spanish production company he heads, and will work alongside four other producers from Chile, France, Germany and Colombia. The multinational lineup reflects the cross‑border financing strategy that has become common for ambitious literary adaptations.
Directed by Chilean filmmaker Matías Rojas, “Dog Legs” moves into the final phase of its financing following Matamoros’s involvement. The project, sometimes referred to as “Dog Paws” in early reports, is now positioned to secure the remaining funds needed to commence principal photography.
The San Sebastián Festival, one of Europe’s premier film markets, has increasingly become a venue for producers to seal co‑production agreements. Matamoros’s entry into the project underscores the festival’s role in linking Spanish and Latin American cinema.
