Argentine actor Ricardo Darín takes the lead in the country’s latest feature, Therapy Done Right (Spanish title: Lo dejamos acá), which made its world premiere at the San Sebastián Film Festival.
The film follows a pragmatic psychoanalyst who, after losing faith in conventional methods, begins to push the boundaries of his practice with his patients. The story unfolds as a writer, portrayed by Diego Peretti, struggles with an unspecified personal crisis that brings the therapist’s experimental approach into sharp focus.
Darín’s performance anchors the film’s exploration of mental health and the limits of professional authority. The narrative centres on the tension between established therapeutic techniques and the unpredictable nature of the human mind.
“Therapy Done Right” is part of the festival’s competitive lineup, offering a fresh look at the psychological landscape of contemporary Argentina. The film’s title, translated as “We Leave It Here,” hints at the characters’ willingness to abandon conventional expectations in pursuit of deeper understanding.
