On Saturday, Dr Hamidu Ahmed Kara, the Head of the Civil Service in Nigeria’s Taraba State, paid an unannounced visit to the headquarters of the Taraba State Public Complaints and Anti‑Corruption Commission, where he pledged his office’s continued support for the agency’s work.
Kara said the surprise inspection was intended to strengthen inter‑agency collaboration, boost staff morale and improve operational synergy among government institutions, underscoring the state’s commitment to more efficient public service delivery.
“You have the total support of my office, and that commitment will remain steadfast. Whatever assistance the Office of the Head of Civil Service can render to enable you to fully execute your mandate, we will readily provide,”
He also urged the Commission to broaden its oversight beyond purely financial matters, noting that “corrupt practices and institutional bottlenecks extend far beyond financial misappropriation; technical and administrative lapses also require rigorous oversight.” Kara pledged to work with the anti‑corruption body to streamline administrative processes across the state civil service.
In response, the Commission’s chairman, Major General Habila Panyan Shon Zing Vintennaba (retd), highlighted a new digital portal that allows citizens to lodge complaints online quickly and securely, a step he said will improve accessibility, strengthen public feedback mechanisms and make it easier for the public to report issues requiring the Commission’s attention.
