A 36‑year‑old man, identified as Muyideen Olatunbosun, was arrested by Lagos police on Tuesday after an intelligence‑led anti‑crime patrol in the Ikorodu district. During the arrest officers seized a rubber‑made pistol, an axe, a set of criminal charms and a drug known locally as “Ice.”
The suspect was taken into custody in the Idi‑Iroko, Ogolonto and Agric areas of Ikorodu, where the patrol was operating on credible intelligence, Police Relations Officer SP Abimbola Adebisi said in a statement.
“A search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of one rubber‑made pistol, one axe, criminal charms and an illicit drug popularly known as ‘Ice’,” Adebisi said. He added that the suspect is currently in police custody and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
Police are also working to locate other members of the alleged cult group. Commissioner of Police for the Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, praised the operatives for their vigilance and highlighted the command’s commitment to intelligence‑led operations against cultism and other criminal activities.
Fatai urged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to the police through emergency lines, as part of the broader effort to curb cult‑related crimes across the state.
