The committee said disease and epidemics are spreading across the country, fueled by poor sanitation, overcrowding and the destruction of medical infrastructure during the war.
The statement was released from Khartoum and Amsterdam, highlighting the international dimension of the crisis. According to the doctors’ body, the war has left hospitals and clinics damaged or inoperable, and the lack of clean water and adequate waste disposal has created a breeding ground for infections.
Health professionals fear that the combination of these factors could trigger a broader public health emergency. They have called for urgent support to rebuild medical facilities and improve basic sanitation services across Sudan.
