Sokoto Govt Adopts Tougher Strategy to Tackle Banditry
Sokoto State Governor, Ahmad Aliyu, has announced a renewed security strategy to combat banditry and facilitate the return of displaced residents to their ancestral communities. The governor made this disclosure during the opening of the eighth regular meeting of the State Executive Council in Sokoto.
Speaking on the state's progress in the fight against banditry, Governor Aliyu said, "We are recording tremendous improvement in our fight against banditry in the state, and we will not relent until we make the state safer."
The governor emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration with security agencies, which has led to increased engagements with bandits, the rescue of kidnapped persons, and the recovery of thousands of rustled livestock in various parts of the state. He cited recent operations in Rabah, Tureta, and Kebbe Local Government Areas as examples.
Aliyu further stated that the provision of armoured vehicles and other operational equipment would strengthen security operations and protect rural communities affected by banditry. He assured residents that his administration would continue to provide resources needed to protect lives and property.
Governor Ahmad Aliyu urged residents to cooperate with security agencies and support efforts to restore lasting peace across the state.
