Secret Service Director Sean Curran told CBS that the current threat environment is “like we’ve never seen before,” a remark that will be a focal point of an upcoming interview on Sunday’s edition of 60 Minutes. The interview will feature Curran alongside Deputy Director Matthew Quinn and will be conducted by journalist Norah O’Donnell.
O’Donnell said viewers can expect a discussion of the agency’s assessment of today’s security challenges, though the preview did not disclose specific details about the threats being examined.
“Like we’ve never seen before.”
The United States Secret Service, which is responsible for protecting the president, vice president, their families, and visiting foreign dignitaries, as well as safeguarding the nation’s financial infrastructure, has been increasingly vocal about evolving risks.
While Curran’s comment signals heightened concern, the interview is expected to provide broader context on how the agency is adapting its protective strategies in response to the unprecedented environment.
The full conversation will air on Sunday’s broadcast of 60 Minutes and will also be available for streaming on CBS’s online platforms.
