On 29 October 2026 the Minister of Public Works carried out the third stage of a work visit to the 68.7‑kilometre Guidiguis‑Yagoua road in Cameroon's Extreme North region, part of a rehabilitation project aimed at improving regional connectivity.

The road, which links the border town of Guidiguis with the district centre of Yagoua, had been earmarked for upgrade to support trade and mobility in the area. The inspection was one of a series of visits scheduled to monitor progress on the project.

During the visit, local officials highlighted the need for accelerated work. “Nganou Djoumessi exige plus de célérité,” the spokesperson said, urging the ministry to speed up the remaining phases.

While the project’s full scope and budget were not disclosed in the brief, the 68.7‑km stretch is expected to reduce travel time between the two towns and facilitate the transport of goods across the region.

The Ministry of Public Works has not yet issued a statement on the delay concerns raised by Nganou Djoumessi, but the visit underscores the importance of timely completion of infrastructure projects in the northern part of the country.
