The Lagos State Police Command sealed a suspected illegal factory in the Badagry area of the state on Thursday, after it was found to be involved in the production and packaging of adulterated alcoholic beverages. Police also arrested 48‑year‑old Anaebo Emeka Hilary, who was linked to the operation at Yafin, Badagry.
Operatives moved against the facility following tips from members of the public, the command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, said. “During the operation, the operatives recovered adulterated alcoholic drinks, empty bottles, different wine labels and various production utensils suspected to have been used in the production and packaging of the drinks,” the statement added.
Items seized from the premises included the suspected beverages, empty bottles, assorted wine labels and a range of production equipment that police believe were used to manufacture and package the drinks. The recovered goods were taken to a police station as investigations began.
Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Tijani Fatai praised the officers for acting swiftly on the information received and for maintaining vigilance. He said the command would continue to carry out intelligence‑driven operations aimed at tackling criminal activities across Lagos.
Fatai urged residents to assist the police by providing timely and credible information on suspected criminal activities, adding that such cooperation would help protect the public from harmful products.
