The Kebbi State Police Command has rescued five kidnapped victims and arrested three suspects following a security operation in the Dakingari area of Suru Local Government Area. The intervention, which concluded with the safe return of all hostages to their families, was confirmed on Sunday by the state's Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman.

According to Usman, the operation was triggered by intelligence reports indicating that armed men had invaded Dolen Kwandage Village and abducted three residents. The identified victims from this initial abduction were Samaila Abubakar, 35, Dayyaba Muhammadu, 32, and Balki Hakimi, 31. Police operatives, working in coordination with local vigilantes, pursued the kidnappers and forced them to abandon their captives.

The joint effort also resulted in the rescue of two women who had been abducted earlier from Yarma Village in the same local government area. Moe Muddaha, 50, and Hadiza Bello, 30, were recovered during the operation. Usman stated that all five victims were rescued unhurt and were subsequently taken to the General Hospital in Dakingari for medical examinations before being reunited with their families.

During the pursuit, police arrested three members of the kidnapping gang. The suspects were identified as Umaru Janyo, 49, and Bube Kwaire, 28, both from Bendu Village, as well as Muhammadu Gyade, 22, from Tindifai Village. Usman noted that other members of the group managed to escape, reportedly sustaining suspected gunshot injuries during the confrontation.

Items recovered from the scene included an unregistered Haojue motorcycle, N308,000 in cash, a chain, and a jerrycan. The police command announced that it has intensified patrols and surveillance in the area to maintain security, while efforts continue to apprehend the remaining fleeing suspects.

Commissioner of Police Umar Hadejia commended the operatives and their vigilante collaborators for their swift response to the incident. The statement highlighted the collaborative nature of the operation, emphasizing the partnership between the state police and local community security groups in combating kidnapping in the region.
