Police in Kano State have arrested Bilkisu Sani on suspicion of killing her husband, Hafizu Gausu, in the Katsalle area of Rogo town on Friday evening.
The alleged murder took place at about 7 pm in Rogo Local Government Area. A resident, identified only as Kazagi, said he was alerted by Bilkisu that her husband had been “slaughtered.” When neighbours arrived, they found Gausu lying in a pool of blood with a head injury.
Police were contacted immediately and the body was removed for investigation. According to Kazagi, Gausu had recently become engaged to a second wife and was planning to marry her, a development Bilkisu opposed. The disagreement reportedly escalated into the fatal incident.
Following the discovery, authorities detained Bilkisu as the prime suspect in connection with her husband’s death. Gausu was buried in Rogo on Saturday morning in accordance with Islamic rites.
