Cross River State Police Command said on Tuesday it had arrested two suspects and recovered a stolen tricycle and a generator in separate incidents in Calabar South.
Police spokesman ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata identified the first suspect as 22‑year‑old Testimony Ene, who was taken into custody on Mayne Avenue after he was seen negotiating the sale of a tricycle bearing registration number AZA 504 QJ. Preliminary investigations suggest Ene had taken the vehicle from Akwa Ibom State and driven it to Calabar to dispose of it.
The tricycle was recovered and is being kept as an exhibit while authorities work to trace its rightful owner. The police said the suspect would be prosecuted if investigations confirm his culpability.
The second arrest involved 18‑year‑old Promise Sunday Patrick, who was apprehended in the Nyawawo community while in possession of a yellow Fireman generator. According to Akata, Patrick told investigators that the generator had been taken from a church on Nyawawo Street.
Police recovered the generator and are continuing to investigate its ownership and the circumstances of its removal. The command reiterated that the suspect would face prosecution if evidence establishes his involvement.
Both incidents underscore the police’s ongoing efforts to curb theft and recover stolen property in Calabar South.
