Former Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has criticised the Premier League, saying it “lived through a period of deception” if Manchester City breached financial rules.
Pochettino, who left Chelsea in 2021 and managed Tottenham from 2019 to 2021, made the comment in reference to the ongoing scrutiny over Manchester City’s compliance with the league’s financial regulations.
He added that the Premier League’s reputation could be tarnished if the club is found to have violated those rules, implying that the league’s integrity would be compromised.
The Premier League is the top tier of English football, featuring 20 clubs that compete for the championship each season.
