Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, announced on Saturday that the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) had cleared him of any wrongdoing in connection with allegations about the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).
He made the statement during the 2026 Gbaja Mega Empowerment Programme held in Lagos State, saying that the investigations had been completed and the reports were available to the public.
“At the end of all the investigations, the Nigerian Police, the DSS, the ICPC cleared me of any wrongdoing,” Gbajabiamila said.
The accusations stemmed from claims that Gbajabiamila was involved in setting up the PFIPC, an agency headed by Director‑General Adeniyi Adeyemi. Adeyemi alleged that Gbajabiamila demanded a 48 per cent kickback from a N27.3 billion grant to the council and that he had paid N400 million to the chief of staff through a proxy, with an additional N200 million still owed.
Following the allegations, Adeyemi was arrested, detained and later released. After his release, Gbajabiamila sued him for defamation.
