Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo accused thugs of the opposition Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) of destroying President Bola Tinubu campaign posters and looting shops in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State on Friday, 18 September 2026.
Keyamo posted the allegations on his X handle, sharing a video that shows men wearing Obi‑Kwankwaso movement paraphernalia moving along a road and smashing property. The narrator, identified as Aproko King, claimed the NDC thugs were escorted by security personnel and went on a rampage, destroying campaign materials in the community.
“They wrecked havoc on billboards pasted everywhere by Tompolo’s door‑to‑door Campaign Organisation, entered people’s shops with dangerous weapons and looted the shops,” Keyamo said.
He said the thugs also destroyed billboards and entered shops with weapons, looting them. Keyamo criticised the press and human rights groups for remaining silent, arguing that if the incident had involved the All‑Progressive Congress (APC) the coverage would have been far more vocal.
Keyamo compared the incident to the blockade of Peter Obi’s entourage from entering Benue State, calling the Delta event “worse” and accusing the media of double standards. He added that the video evidence shows the thugs were accompanied by law‑enforcement agents.
He will submit a petition to Inspector‑General of Police Olatunji Disu this week to investigate the incident and to bring those found wanting to book, including any APC leaders who crossed the line. He also urged disciplinary action against the police who allegedly condoned the looting.
Keyamo warned the community not to resort to self‑help and said some are ready for a “long haul” in pursuing justice for the attack.
