Rivers United’s technical adviser Finidi George said the squad has more quality than it did last season, a claim that comes after the Pride of Rivers secured a 5‑0 victory over Kun Khalifat FC in Port Harcourt and remain undefeated in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) this campaign.
Finidi, speaking to the club’s media, noted that the players signed this season are “much better” than those from the previous year, and that the quality in the squad has improved significantly.
"It was unfortunate that we couldn’t convert those chances and we were eliminated in the CAF Champions League," Finidi said. "We are beginning to get it right, I’m confident on the qualities of the players and hope they continue this way."
The team’s recent triumph over Kun Khalifat FC, a 5‑0 thumping in the NPFL, underscores the progress Finidi sees in his players. The club’s unbeaten run in the domestic league stands in stark contrast to their early exit from the CAF Champions League preliminary games.
Finidi remains optimistic that the improved quality will translate into further success for Rivers United, both at home and on the continental stage.
