Enyimba International, the reigning Nigerian Premier League champions, are set to face newly promoted Inter Lagos on Sunday at the Enyimba Stadium in Aba. The match, scheduled for the league’s fourth round, is a must‑win for the People’s Elephant, who have yet to secure a victory in their first two fixtures of the season.
Technical adviser Emmanuel Deutsch has dismissed concerns about the team’s slow start. “There is no fire on the mountain. We played two away matches and I thought the team would at least pick a point from those games, but unfortunately, we failed in our quest,” Deutsch told Complete Sports.
Deutsch emphasised that the home fixture against Inter Lagos must be a win for the supporters in Abia. “Our home game against Inter Lagos must be a victory for the home fans and supporters of Abia,” he said.
“The spirit in camp is high, and we are not going to underestimate Inter Lagos despite their position in the league table. What is more important is that we are prepared to pick the three points,” Deutsch added.
With the winless streak looming, Enyimba’s coaching staff remain confident that the team will turn its fortunes around in the upcoming clash.
