The Nigerian Navy has officially disavowed a recruitment notice circulating on social media, declaring it fake and not originating from the military. The statement, issued on Monday in Abuja, clarifies that the purported announcement for the 2026 Batch 39 recruitment exercise is unauthorised and should not be trusted by the public.
Capt. Abiodun Folorunsho, the Director of Naval Information, released the statement to address the misinformation. He described the circulating information as an unauthorised publication and warned members of the public against relying on it. The Navy urged prospective applicants to exercise caution and disregard any recruitment-related information obtained from unofficial social media accounts, websites, or other unauthorised sources.
“The Nigerian Navy wishes to inform the public that a recruitment notice currently circulating on social media platforms, purportedly announcing the Nigerian Navy Recruitment 2026 Batch 39 exercise, is not official. The Nigerian Navy states that the notice, as circulated, is not an authorised publication and should not be trusted as an official recruitment announcement,” the statement read.
The Navy emphasized that authentic information concerning its recruitment processes will only be released through the service’s authorised communication channels. This includes specific details regarding eligibility criteria, application procedures, timelines, and available categories for enlistment.
According to the statement, the only official website for Nigerian Navy recruitment or enlistment is joinnigeriannavy.navy.mil.ng. The military reiterated that any other sources claiming to provide official recruitment updates are not to be considered valid.
