The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have warned that they may launch a nationwide industrial action if their demands remain unresolved after failed talks with the Federal Government.
Both labour federations had been negotiating with the government over a range of workers’ demands, but the discussions ended without a settlement. The NLC and TUC said that the lack of progress has left them with no choice but to consider further action.
Should the threat materialise, it could affect a wide range of sectors across the country, potentially disrupting services and businesses nationwide.
In a statement, the federations said they would keep the option of industrial action on the table until the government responds to their concerns and reaches a satisfactory agreement.
