Across Nigeria on Thursday a mix of political reshuffles, security actions, health alerts and economic moves were reported, ranging from the expulsion of two former Lagos APC members to the launch of a $12 million entrepreneurship centre in Abuja.
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress announced the expulsion of former Agege Local Government Chairman Ganiyu Egunjobi and former Agege Constituency II aspirant Azeez Yusuf after they defected to the Allied Peoples Movement. State APC Chairman Cornelius Ojelabi said the two were guilty of “anti‑party activities and disloyalty” in a Facebook statement. Meanwhile, the Obi‑Kwankwaso Movement (OK Movement) pledged to retain its organisational structure ahead of the 2027 election, with Director‑General John Ughulu warning that neither the Nigeria Democratic Congress nor any other group would absorb its national, state, local‑government and ward units.
Security forces reported two separate incidents. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the Federal Capital Territory arrested three suspects for allegedly vandalising an NNPC petroleum pipeline in Dafa, Kwali Area Council, Abuja, according to Commandant Olusola Odumosu. In Delta State, a university undergraduate was swept away by floodwater in Asaba; her body was recovered two days after the vehicle she was travelling in with her father was pushed into a drainage channel by sudden floodwater.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) placed the country on “high alert” for Ebola after the latest update on the outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, urging continued surveillance and preparedness. In the foreign‑exchange market, the naira appreciated to N1,375 per dollar in the parallel market and to N1,328 per dollar in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM). The Plateau State Police Command disbursed more than N25 million to families of officers killed in the line of duty, presenting cheques to 22 beneficiaries as part of a life‑insurance scheme.
