Nigeria’s private filling stations have lowered their Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) pump prices following a recent price cut by the state‑owned Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL). The NNPCL reduced its fuel price to N1,325 per litre, the lowest in Abuja and its environs.
According to a market survey by Daily Post, stations such as AA Rano, Sharon and Shema in Abuja have trimmed their PMS prices to N1,410 per litre, a reduction of only N10 from the previous N1,420. The new rates have been rolled out across the three outlets and their surrounding areas.
Last week, NNPCL lowered its fuel price by between N45 and N80 per litre, bringing the official rate down to N1,325. This move made the state‑run stations the cheapest option for motorists in the capital region.
Other private stations in the area, including MRS, Ranoil, Empire, Mobil and AP Ardova, are dispensing fuel at prices ranging from N1,395 to N1,420 per litre. The MRS outlets, however, had not yet implemented a price review at the time of reporting, despite the recent cuts from Dangote Refinery.
- AA Rano – N1,410
- Sharon – N1,410
- Shema – N1,410
- MRS – N1,395–N1,420
