Governor Dauda Lawal used a high‑level side event in New York to showcase Zamfara State’s mineral and investment potential during the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
The forum, titled “Nigeria‑U.S. Critical Minerals & Infrastructure Investor Room, UNGA 81,” convened investors, government officials and other stakeholders from Nigeria and the United States to explore opportunities in critical minerals, infrastructure development and investment partnerships.
Lawal highlighted that Zamfara is endowed with minerals of growing global importance, including gold, lithium, copper and industrial phosphate, among others.
The event was chaired by Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Olajumoke Omoniyi Oduwole, while the governor was represented by Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources AbdurRahman Muhammad Tumbido.
Tumbido explained that the increasing global demand for responsibly sourced critical minerals presents significant opportunities for Zamfara, particularly in mineral processing, infrastructure development and value‑chain investment. He said the state is at a pivotal moment and ready to partner with responsible private‑sector investors to transform its mineral potential into sustainable economic value for the people of the state and its investment partners.
Held on the margins of the 81st UN General Assembly in New York, the forum underscored Zamfara’s readiness to attract investment and develop its mineral resources responsibly.
