Neil Patrick Harris will take the lead in a new Broadway revival of the classic musical Damn Yankees, sharing the stage with Julianne Hough. The production is scheduled to open next spring, bringing the show back to Broadway for the first time in more than 30 years.
The revival follows last fall’s run at D.C.’s Arena Stage, where the musical was refreshed for a regional audience. The new production will feature a revised book written by Will Power and Dough Wright.
In addition to the new book, the show will include additional lyrics by an unspecified writer, as noted in the production’s creative team list.
Broadway has long been a venue for reviving beloved classics, and this staging of Damn Yankees is part of that tradition of reintroducing iconic shows to contemporary audiences.
