The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has warned state chairmen and other party officials that they must not charge fees for the registration of support groups, stressing that the process is free of charge.
In a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, on Friday in Abuja, the NDC clarified that the registration of support groups is the exclusive responsibility of its Directorate of Support Groups at the national headquarters.
All inquiries and registration requests are to be directed to that Directorate. The party made it clear that no state chapter or official is authorised to register support groups or collect money for the process.
“All State Chapters of the party are hereby directed to be properly guided and to comply strictly to this directive,” the National Publicity Secretary said.
The NDC warned that any violation of the directive would attract appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with the party’s constitution.
The party also expressed its appreciation for the support and partnership of groups such as the Obidient and Kwankwasiya Movements, and pledged to continue providing an enabling environment for them to work toward the party’s success at all levels.
