The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a directive to its state chairmen and party officials, explicitly warning against the collection of registration fees from support groups. The party clarified that the registration process is entirely free of charge and must be handled exclusively through its national headquarters.
In a statement signed by National Publicity Secretary Osa Director in Abuja on Friday, the NDC emphasized that no monetary cost is associated with registering support groups. Director stated that the Directorate of Support Groups at the national headquarters in Abuja holds the exclusive responsibility for managing these registrations.
Consequently, the National Publicity Secretary directed all inquiries and registration requests to be channeled directly to the Directorate. He warned that no state chapter or individual official is authorized to register support groups or collect any funds related to the process.
“All State Chapters of the party are hereby directed to be properly guided and to comply strictly to this directive,” Director stated.
The party indicated that any violation of this directive would result in appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with the NDC’s constitution. The statement served as a firm reminder to party structures to adhere to the established protocols for engaging with external partners.
Director also highlighted the NDC’s appreciation for the partnership and support provided by these groups, specifically naming the Obidient and Kwankwasiya Movements. He added that the party remains committed to providing an enabling environment for these groups to contribute to the party’s success at all levels.
