The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has honoured 14 retirees for their contribution to raising the country’s oil‑and‑gas local‑content share from 5 % in 2010 to 61 %.
The NCDMB is the government agency tasked with promoting and monitoring indigenous participation in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, ensuring that a greater proportion of contracts, jobs and technology are sourced locally.
The rise from a single‑digit local‑content level to more than three‑fifths reflects the board’s sustained policy drive, which aims to build domestic capacity, create employment and retain more value within the Nigerian economy.
The honoured retirees, who served in various capacities within the board over the years, were recognised for their roles in shaping policy, overseeing implementation and building the institutional framework that enabled the dramatic increase in local content.
By publicly acknowledging these veterans, the NCDMB underscored its commitment to celebrating the individuals whose work has helped embed indigenous participation at the heart of Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
