In a crackdown on counterfeit goods, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) seized more than ₦200 million worth of fake packaging materials from five shops on Old Court Road Market in Aba, Abia State.

The raid targeted items that were allegedly intended for the production and distribution of counterfeit alcoholic beverages and other products. The seized goods included labels, corks, packs and outer packaging that bore the marks of well‑known brands.

NAFDAC officials said the counterfeit materials were designed to mimic legitimate products, posing a risk to consumer safety and undermining legitimate manufacturers.

While the agency did not disclose the names of the shops or the specific brands involved, the operation underscores the ongoing effort to curb the spread of counterfeit goods in Nigeria’s markets.
