Peter Obi Addresses Soludo-Related Controversy and Debt Issues in Anambra State
Presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has addressed the recent controversy surrounding his relationship with Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, and claims of leaving debts behind during his tenure as governor.
Obi spoke to the Nigerian Guild of Editors, clarifying that he and Soludo are close, as the former governor and his wife are godparents to the governor's children.
"I and my wife are godparents to Soludo's children, we are close," Obi said. "So we are not quarreling and we will never quarrel. If I see him any day, I will hug him."
Regarding the debt claims, Obi emphasized that he did not leave any debt in Anambra State during his tenure as governor. He cited Otti's recent interview on Arise TV, where Otti confirmed that Obi saved $150 million in dollars, a feat no other governor has achieved.
"Thank God Otti confirmed this morning during an interview on Arise TV. I left $150 million in dollars, no other governor has left dollars," Obi said.
The former governor further stated that he is ready to provide any financial documents to prove his claim of no debt left behind.
"I am ready to provide any financial documents to prove that no debt was left behind," Obi said.
The clarification comes as Obi gears up for the upcoming presidential election, emphasizing his commitment to transparency and fiscal responsibility as a potential president.
"As a potential president, I am committed to transparency and fiscal responsibility," Obi said.
