Rory McIlroy Struggles to Catch Lead in DP World India Championship
Golf star Rory McIlroy found himself four shots behind the leader after a challenging first day at the DP World India Championship in New Delhi. The four-time major winner posted a two-under par opening round, which left him struggling to catch up to the leaders.
The event, which was delayed due to inclement weather, saw a part-suspended day one of play. Despite the challenging conditions, McIlroy managed to secure a respectable score but still trails behind the leader by four strokes.
The DP World India Championship is an important tournament on the European Tour, with players vying for points and ranking spots. With the leader holding a sizable advantage, McIlroy will need to up his game if he hopes to make a significant impact in the competition.
As the tournament enters its second day, McIlroy will be looking to put together a strong performance to close the gap on the leaders. The 32-year-old Northern Irishman will be hoping to bounce back from an inconsistent start to the year, which saw him miss the cut in the previous event, the Maybank Championship.
The DP World India Championship is McIlroy's first event since the Masters Tournament, where he finished tied for 28th place. With the tournament facing further weather delays and potential rescheduling, golf fans will be watching closely to see if McIlroy can overcome the adversity and make a charge towards the top of the leaderboard.
The DP World India Championship is set to conclude on Sunday, with McIlroy aiming to secure a strong finish after a challenging opening round. Stay tuned for updates as the tournament progresses.
