Paris Saint‑Gregory coach Luis Enrique said Manchester City “deserve the trophies they won” and expressed hope that the English club will avoid any sanction after UEFA opened an investigation into alleged breaches of financial rules.
Enrique made the comments while discussing the ongoing scrutiny of City’s finances, which has raised questions about the club’s compliance with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations. The investigation focuses on whether the club exceeded spending limits set by the governing body.
Manchester City, the reigning Premier League champions, have also captured the domestic cup this season, adding to a period of sustained success under owner Sheikh Mansour. The club’s recent haul of silverware has been highlighted by Enrique as a reward for on‑field performance.
Enrique, who took charge of Paris Saint‑Germain in 2023, said his remarks were intended to acknowledge the hard work of City’s players and staff, while also urging the governing bodies to handle the case fairly and transparently.
UEFA has not yet announced a final decision, and any potential penalty could affect City’s ability to retain the titles it has earned. The outcome remains uncertain as the investigation continues.
