Cameroon’s Finance Minister Louis Paul Motaze met with fellow Cameroonian economist Vera Songwe in Bangkok on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) annual meetings.

The encounter took place while the IMF and World Bank gathered their member states for their yearly assemblies in Thailand’s capital, a forum that brings together finance ministers, central bankers and senior officials from around the world.

Vera Songwe, a United Nations Under‑Secretary‑General and former Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Africa, has been a prominent voice on development and macro‑economic policy for the continent.

During their discussion, Motaze and Songwe are reported to have exchanged views on Cameroon’s economic priorities and the country’s engagement with multilateral financial institutions, although specific policy points were not disclosed.

The meeting highlights Cameroon’s continued participation in global economic dialogues and its efforts to align national fiscal strategies with the broader agenda of the IMF and other international partners.
