The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has issued a warning to children and young adults not to use roller skates and wheeled shoes on public highways in Lagos.
LASTMA said the devices pose a safety risk on the city’s busy roads, where high traffic volumes and limited space make accidents more likely.
In its statement, the authority urged parents and guardians to supervise children and to encourage the use of sidewalks and other pedestrian-friendly routes instead of highways.
The warning comes as the popularity of roller skates and wheeled shoes has risen among Lagos youth, prompting authorities to take a stricter stance on road safety.
