The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported that Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) generated a combined N5.15 trillion in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for 2025, a 40.93 percent rise from the N3.65 trillion recorded in 2024.
Lagos State topped the list, contributing N1.77 trillion – more than one‑third of the total IGR from all states and the FCT. Rivers State ranked second with N428.42 billion, while Enugu State held third place with N406.77 billion.
The next tier of earners included the FCT (N356.34 billion), Ogun State (N252.36 billion), Delta State (N202.49 billion), Edo State (N132.21 billion), Oyo State (N103.25 billion), Kano State (N102.26 billion) and Akwa Ibom State (N100.80 billion), completing the top‑ten rankings.

At the bottom of the list, Ebonyi State recorded the second‑lowest IGR at N17.18 billion, while Yobe State posted the lowest figure of N16.01 billion for 2025.
