Police in Lagos have issued a directive urging political parties to notify the command ahead of the 2027 rallies to help keep the state’s political activities peaceful.
In a statement released by the Lagos Police Command, Mr Fatai, a senior officer, called on parties to cooperate with the police to ensure that rallies and other campaign events across the state are conducted without incident.
Mr Fatai said that early notification would allow the police to plan security arrangements and reduce the risk of clashes or disruptions during campaign events.
The call comes as the 2027 election cycle approaches and parties prepare for a series of rallies in Nigeria’s largest city.
Premium Times Nigeria first reported the police directive, underscoring the importance of coordination between law enforcement and political organisations to maintain public order.
