Former All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirants Kola Egunjobi, the ex‑Agege Local Government Chairman, and Azeez Yusuf – better known as Ninolowo – have switched allegiance to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) ahead of the 2027 general election. The move follows a reshuffle of the APC candidate list for Lagos State House of Assembly seats in Agege Constituencies I and II.
In May, Egunjobi and Ninolowo were reported as the winners of the APC primaries for their respective constituencies. However, the party later revised its candidate roster, nominating Oluwagbenga Abiola for Agege Constituency I and Enimakure Akindele Sakiru for Constituency II.
Following the changes, Egunjobi publicly challenged the APC primary outcome in June, alleging that the votes recorded at various polling centres did not match the announced result. He had previously contested the primary result, claiming he had secured the win before the party recognised another candidate.
With the defection, Egunjobi and Ninolowo will now pursue their bids for the Lagos State House of Assembly under the APM banner,
