Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State has announced the commencement of a disbursement of N646.8 million in bursary allowances to 20,347 verified tertiary students across the state.
The move follows the state’s decision to raise the bursary allowance by 150% from the previous cycle, a step aimed at easing the financial burden on students and encouraging higher enrolment in Kogi’s universities and colleges.
All recipients will receive the increased allowance through the state’s established disbursement channels, with the governor stressing that the funds will be allocated only to students who have been verified as meeting the eligibility criteria.
While the announcement was made in a brief statement, the disbursement is part of a broader effort by the Kogi government to improve educational outcomes and support the next generation of professionals in the region.
